Explore 6 Epic Spring Break Destinations

As the winter season gives way to the blooming spring months, travelers are eager to take in great weather and colorful scenery at up-and-coming destinations around the globe. Whether you want to explore the industrial port city of Bilbao in Spain or keep it local in Charlotte, there are plenty of places to explore this spring.  According to Hopper, 90 percent of those traveling this spring say that affordability and price are the most important factors as they plan their trips. If you, like most people, are looking for a vacation that won’t break the break, adventure awaits you in any of these six epic spring break destinations!

  • Verona, Italy — Considering popping the question in the ever-romantic Italy during your spring break? Have your future forever-love say “I do” while wearing practical yet stylish silicone rings that are easy to travel with during your Verona adventures. Romance comes alive in the setting, which inspired Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Make your fairy tale love story come to life in this underrated spring break destination that gets less attention than nearby Venice. Their northern Italian city is filled with surprising charms like the Roman theatre, opera at the Arena and pizza tours of medieval palaces and millennia-old relics. Head to the top of the Lamberti Tower or take a day trip to Valpolicella for a delicious wine tasting.
  • Bilbao, Spain — The Basque Country destination of Bilbao in Spain is nicknamed the City of the Guggenheim since this is when this original museum was built in 1997 and changed Bilbao forever. Groundbreaking structures have been created by prestigious architects and serve as an international reference point for contemporary style and design. Bilbao is best known for its Basque cuisine and sustainability. Gastronomy is an art and is one of the areas in the world with the most Michelin Stars per person. Embrace the hustle and bustle of Plaza Nueva with their famous pinchos: small, scrumptious bites of food. Visit the Ribera Market, where you can purchase produce and have it cooked for you. Sample Txakoli wine and a selection of pinchos as you listen to live music. Spot people paddle surfing on the water or take a boat to the famous World Heritage Site of the Hanging Bridge of Portugalete. Take a quick trip on the metro 30 minutes away to the stunning cliffs and beaches of Getxo.
  • Luqa, Malta — Look like a serious jet setter when you’re in Malta by wearing functional jewelry that’s as sensible as it is fashionable. Luqa is a densely populated town located in the southeastern part of Malta. Before the dawn of the aviation era, Luqa was a quiet British colony village. Many of the important landmarks you can find in Luqa today have survived since the pre-war period. Visit the impressive St. Vincent de Paul, which serves today as a home for the elderly. See the house of the famous inventor and clockmaker Michelangelo Sapiano, who made the clock in the belfry of the Parish Church. The wayside chapel dedicated to St. James in 1550 remains a special feature of Luqa.
  • Charlotte, North Carolina — We’ve talked about a few international destinations, but you can’t forget about some epic domestic places to visit this spring. Headed to a spring break destination like Charlotte just for the weekend? Pack all of your travel essentials in a silicone tote bag. Queen City blooms with activities during the spring, where you can see golfers battle on the PGA Tour at the Wells Fargo Championship. The multi-week Charlotte SHOUT! Festival takes place during April for you to enjoy food, art, music and culture. Go the whole hog at the Carolina BBQ Festival in May.
  • Honolulu, Hawaii — Head to downtown Honolulu and see the breadth of the city’s offerings on a bus tour. Visit the serene Honolulu Museum of Art, which houses an amazing collection of Asian and American art with a focus on artwork inspired by Hawaii. History lovers must stop by the Queen Emma Summer Palace, a historical abode that once served as the summer home for Hawaiian royalty in the mid-nineteenth century.
  • Seattle, Washington — Washington State is known for its beautifully blooming daffodils, tulips and the state flower rhododendrons. Explore local parks and gardens to take advantage of Seattle’s great outdoor sights. While spring is in full bloom, take a walk on the Des Moines Creek Trail, which has 96 acres of paved and dirt trails for both cyclists and pedestrians. Visit the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden, which has 10.5 acres of display gardens, woodlands and trails.

Any of the destinations listed above are trending destinations that you should seriously consider traveling to this spring. To help you save this spring, Hopper recommends that you take a look at travel trends. Traveling over a March weekend will be more expensive, while late April trips are more affordable. The pricier getaways this year will be over Easter weekend starting Thursday, March 28. If you’re considering going to any of these destinations, try booking your adventure in early March or after Easter. Happy travels!
