How Being An Empath Leads to Adrenal Fatigue, Insomnia and Exhaustion

Do you consider yourself to be an empath? Perhaps it is common for you to experience chronic fatigue and stress because you have heard the story of someone else. Your energy has crashed because of the things you have felt while listening to the stories of other people.

You cannot help it but every time you are in the company of someone, you normally feel exhausted.

In order to recharge and make yourself feel better again, you are recommended to limit your interactions and make sure that you spend some time alone. This means that you are going to take a few retreats in order to recharge and feel better.

The things that we feel and experience can always have a huge effect on our physical body. This is the reason why when you become hurt emotionally, you sometimes feel like your heart is truly shattering or is being pinched. This is also the reason why you feel butterflies in your stomach when you see someone that you like.

If you are an empath, you experience these emotions with even more intensity.

It is common that you will sometimes feel emotionally exhausted. The only way for you to get out of the slump that you are in is to let go of negativity. This is not always easy.

If you would not spend time alone, then your mind can become overactive even when nothing is supposed to be bothering you. You find yourself tossing and turning all the time simply because you are imagining different things that may never occur.

At times, you are able to get to sleep but because of your overactive brain, you wake up several times during the night. This makes the quality of your sleep less restful. You can expect to have erratic sleeping patterns. There will be days when you only need to rests for about 6 – 8 hours but there are also days when you need to sleep 10 hours minimum to feel that you are refreshed.

Meditation

In order to calm down nervous thoughts and overactive imagination, meditation is required for empaths. This can be done anytime. In fact, when empaths do this during day time, they usually get the answers that they are looking for so they will feel more at ease. If you do not have time to meditate during day time, you may meditate before sleeping.

It will help you achieve a more restful sleep.

Through meditation, you can let your body and mind know that you are not under immediate threat which is the main reason why you are feeling anxious and distressed. Remember that when you are feeling anxious, the brain releases hormones that can improve energy. This is not something that you would like to experience in the middle of the night.

Adrenal Glands

Are you familiar with what the adrenal glands are? These are small kidney shaped glands that are located above our kidneys. They are very small – similar to walnuts but they can do a lot of things for our bodies. They make sure that we are alert especially when we are stressed so we can deal with pressure better.

There are times however when the adrenal glands do not work as well as they should because of our unhealthy lifestyle. Look at the things that will be mentioned below. Do you do the following things?

  • You get too much or too little sleep.
  • You overwork yourself in the office.
  • You have a poor diet.
  • You are in a stressful relationship.
  • You are experiencing something that you consider a crisis.

The adrenal glands can only take so much and when you over exert them, they will start to fail. You will begin to feel that you do not have enough energy to do what you are supposed to do. At times, you are tempted to take sugar loaded drinks or even snacks just to increase your energy but if you do this often, this can have negative effects on your body too.

It is normal for the body to crave salt and sugar and if you give in to what your body wants, you will find yourself consuming a lot of junk food and even coffee. Remember that coffee contains caffeine that can be harmful for the adrenal gland especially if taken in large dosages.

Remember that the more unhealthy the adrenal glands are, the harder it will be for you to cope with difficult and stressful events.

There are some things you can do in order to improve the overall condition of your adrenal glands.

  • Take enough exercise
  • Get enough sleep
  • Eat well
  • Think positive thoughts

If you do the following, your adrenal glands will not find it too hard to cope with the demands of your job or the current situation that you are facing.

Sleeping well is actually important because it is while we sleep that our cortisol levels are increased. When we get enough levels of this hormone, you will wake up normally the moment that the sun is out. This will improve your sleeping pattern tremendously. If the adrenal glands are unable to produce enough cortisol, we will make up feeling like we have never slept at all.

Healing the adrenal glands can be a bit complicated but in order to gain immediate effects, here are some things that you can do:

  • Take note of the times of the day when you are using more energy. This will allow you to regulate what you are doing so that the energy can be spread out more throughout the day.
  • Get to know the reasons why you are feeling emotionally stressed. If you are able to identify what is causing you to feel stressed out, you will be able to distance yourself from that and allow your adrenal glands to rest.
  • Do not forget to meditate. It will help you get in touch with your feelings and calm down your mind.
  • Make the effort to spend time with the people that you love. The more that you spend time with them, the better that you will begin to feel. You do not want to feel like you are being isolated, right?
  • Find time to exercise. Adults are usually recommended to spend a few minutes of exercise throughout the day. Eating healthy will also do a lot of wonders to your adrenal gland and your health. Remember to include food products that have vitamins A, B and C plus all the nutrients that the body needs.
  • Go to bed in a happier mood and you will most likely sleep better.

One of the things that you are recommended to do is to place a Himalayan Salt table lamp. This can help get rid of the negative energy that may be in your room throughout the day.
