Conflicting mind, heart and body are a common finding these days. The mind wants the body to relax and unwind; the heart wants to enjoy the fullest while the body is busy in all the worldly activities and never-ending routine work.

This conflict gradually makes all the three core elements of human self to loathe each other and tangles them. The main quest of life is to find a solution to this situation and make mind, heart, and body in sync with each other. Mindful meditation is a tried and tested solution to this complex situation.

Mindful meditation is a holistic practice of focused breathing. Performed in short spans of 10 minutes or so, it requires the practitioner to focus on the breathing only. While exhaling and inhaling, it is important to keep your focus on breathing air only and on the process of breathing going in and out of nostrils.

It is difficult in the beginning when the mind wanders here and there, but that is time to accept in a non-judgmental way and to bring the concentration back to breathing practice. Being non-judgmental and accepting the fact is an important point here because not accepting this human nature will eventually raise the bar of negativity and lead to discontinuation and failure of mindful meditation. Bringing the focus back to breathing will eventually perfect the mindful meditation practice.

In advance stages, mindfulness of breathing can be extended to mindfulness of thoughts, feelings, and actions. Letting go is very profound and beneficial practice. This is a way to observe our thoughts and emotions which in turn allows becoming more familiar with the patterns and movements of our thoughts and feelings.

With regular practice and focus, mindful meditation becomes the natural state of actions in life that leads to relaxation and better quality of life, performance, and well-being. Mindful meditation is about achieving the right equilibrium.

Equilibrium means riding the waves of energy of self without holding it too tight or too loose. Achieving the perfect balance is the ultimate mindful expression. After training of the mind, the natural consequence is to outstretch this practice to opening up our hearts with kindness and compassion by overcoming our natural thought patterns of selfishness and aggression.

Through the power of focusing our mind and thoughts, it is possible to extend our feelings of love and friendliness to our friends, later to our neutral group and eventually to our enemies. Positivity of thoughts leads to better quality of life and relaxed mind.
