There are some inspirational people with disabilities who got immense success in life and achieved their targets despite several limitations.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR)
The U.S president who was born on January 30, 1882, New York, United States. He is considered one of the most beloved president in the United States because of his avid role in World War II. Besides, he had spent a wonderful time in his office serving our beloved countrymen.
When he started his political career he incurred with the polio virus due to drinking water from a campsite. Later on, he grew paralyzed from legs. He spent a significant part of his life in a wheelchair.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt did not make this news public owing to the fear of public which might obstruct his career. Although the notable president was a victim of a deadly virus, he never backed down and succeeded utterly in life.
Stephan Hawking was born on January 8, 1942, in the United Kingdom. When he was 21 he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)_A disease that gradually paralyzed him until his death on March 14, 2018.
Stephan Hawking is the most astounding physicist of this millennium. He used to speak with the help of a computer machine and spent almost his whole life in a power-chair.
His disability did not hinder him to achieve his aim of exploring the universe and relativity of quantum mechanics. He wrote several books but the best selling work was his book, “A Brief History of Time”.
John Hockenberry
John Hockenberry was born on June 4, 1956, in Ohio, United States. He is one of the best journalists and author of the United States. He has won three Peabody Awards and four Emmy Awards. He is the first American journalist who used a wheelchair on the US network. He was also the host of The Takeaway on public radio.
When was 19 due to the car crash that made him the victim of paraplegia and injured his spinal cord. The car crash did not hamper him from doing the great works which he did and still doing in his life. He wrote the famous book “Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs, and Declarations of Independence.”
Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was born on July 6, 1907, Mexico City, Mexico. The famous artist, Frida Kahlo was known for her self portraits _most of them depicted her in a wheelchair. Besides, she was also famous for her paintings of nature which showcased Mexico’s artifacts. The other aspect of her life was her relationship with famous Mexican artist Diego Rivera.
When she was teen she met a horrible trolley accident Which damaged her back that never fully repaired. She was also the victim of polio virus at the age of 6 and had a deformed leg. All this made her stronger and she ended up becoming one of the best artists in her time.
Marlee Matlin
Marlee Beth Matlin was born on August 24, 1965, in Illinois, United States. She is one of the best American actresses and has won an Academy Award for her extraordinary performance in the romantic drama movie, Children of a Lesser God (1986). She has also received the Golden Globe Award for her leading role in the above-mentioned movie. Along with the cinema she performed on multiple T.V shows, such as “The Apprentice”, “The L word and Law” and “Dancing with the stars”.
She is the only deaf actress who won an Academy Award. She got deaf when she was of 18 months old owing to the deformed cochlea. She altered her deafness into her strength and became a rising star of American cinema.

Lenin Moreno was born on March 19, 1953, in Nuevo Rocafuerte, Ecuador. After Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Moreno is the most powerful person with a disability. Moreno is serving as the Vice presidEcuador Ecuador and got re-elected on May 24, 2017. He also served as United Nations special Envoy On Disability and Accessibility from 2013 to 2016.
Lenin Moreno was shot in 1998 in a robbery before going into politics and since then he is paralyzed. He has done great work for the people with disabilities in Ecuador and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Helen Keller
Hellen Keller was born on June 27, 1880, in Alabama, United States. Hellen was an American political activist, lecturer, feminist, and author. Helen had written 12 books which include her own autobiography, “My Religion”. Politically, she was the active member of the Socialist party in the United States. She worked immensely for women and labor rights.
Her inspiring story was depicted in the film,” the miracle worker”. She has the honor of having the first blind and deaf person to receive a college degree. Helen Keller is the landmark of strength and motivation who never fell down against any adversity.
